Hi. It is nearly Easter, again. I really like the Spring, as you may be able to tell from this new series of small paintings inspired by several of my color pencil drawings, a series I call Easter without good Friday. The series is almost done, I have a few more bubbles to paint in. I like it.
It is a new thing for me. Of course, I'm hoping the fooLPRoof Gallery will also like them.
I am also trying to remember my new phone number. Yes, I did get a new phone. I gave up the old number because waaaay too many call centers bothered me an used up my minutes. I'm learning how to block numbers, too. I thought a good way to remember the new number was to associate parts of the numer to important dates, for example: 241 - Gaius Furius Sabinius Aquila Timesitheus becomes praetorian prefect and de facto ruler of the Roman Empire.
Okay, I may not use this method. I've also realized that my ability to text is soooo slow that it is just better for me to call and speak.
So, why title this series of pastel colored images Easter without good Friday? Okay, sure, I'd rather focus on the resurrection aspect of Spring and of Easter, and if the metaphor fits, wear it. Come to think of it, it is not deeper than that. I like Spring. I like the Easter season because it is Spring. Yes, awake after the winter slumber, yes yes, buds and warmth...
I never worried about what bunnies and colored eggs had to do with any of it and though I enjoy the stories, I see no need to go into any of it here. Maybe we could chat sometime.
What I am not that crazy about is that my hand is not as steady as it once was, nor my eyes as sharp, and those are realities to accept, maybe even come up with work-arounds. Just keep painting and drawing, regardless. Just keep doing things that you like and that don't harm others. Just keep being a good person despite others being mean or selfish. You are better than that. And don't worry about all that stuff under the keyboard on the piano seat in the photo.
Springtime, like any other time, is the right time to get back on track, keep at the good you do, and keep drawing and painting. Don't quit. Just do it. If you need to get into a better mood, listen to Bob Seger sing Old Time Rock n Roll about 20 times. Try new colors and new shapes and don't be so darned critical..... that's what the curator's job is.
Peace, Leslie
